Permanent Impairment
PIA lump-sum payment for the lasting effect of a service-related injury or illness, once your condition is stable.
PI is calculated using the Guide to Determining Impairment and Compensation (GARP). Different rules apply under DRCA, MRCA and VEA. Your condition usually needs to be stable for around 12 months before a PI assessment.
